A learner completes an assessment. A few weeks later they receive a set of results, a subject-choice form, and sometimes a label. Then they're left standing with the paper in their hands, asking the one question nobody built a system to answer.
What now?
That gap, between receiving a result and knowing what to do with it, is the reason IDENTIQ exists. We don't believe a young person should be handed a definitive label at fourteen and sent on their way. They are not a score, and they are not finished.
So instead of a once-off verdict, IDENTIQ takes a whole view of the learner: what they're drawn to, how they work, how they handle change and what they care about. Then it stays with them while they turn that understanding into choices.

Direction, not prediction.
A compass tells you which way you're facing. It doesn't tell you where you'll end up. These are the rules the platform is built on.
No scores, percentiles or labels
A learner never sees a number that ranks them against other learners. They see their own shape, in words.
No match percentages
Study directions are ordered by fit. A percentage would pretend to a precision nobody has about a fourteen-year-old's future.
No door closed because of marks
Marks can change the order of the list. They never remove a direction from it.
What sits against it, said openly
Wherever something in a learner's answers pulls against a direction, the report says so next to it.
Nothing hidden from the learner
Parents and learners read the same findings, with different framing. Every statement can be opened to see where it came from.
AI explains. It doesn't decide.

Why we built it.
I'm Christel van Jaarsveld, a former teacher, and someone who has spent years around young people trying to figure out what comes next.
In that time I watched the same thing happen over and over in our schools. Learners received results and were left alone with them. Our vision is for every South African high school learner to get to know themselves properly, and to be guided, not graded, through the path that lies ahead of them.
And because no report can show you what a career actually feels like, our heart as the IDENTIQ team is to connect learners with real mentors and businesses, people already doing the work, so they can see what they're choosing before they choose it.

What exactly is the assessment?
A self-report questionnaire about a learner's interests, work style, adaptability, values and response to pressure. It is built on established, published research instruments. It does not measure intelligence or ability, and it does not diagnose anything. It gives direction.
How long does it take?
About 45 minutes. There is no timer. If a learner needs to stop, their progress is saved and they pick up where they left off.
What does the learner receive?
A free teaser as soon as they finish. The full report opens immediately once payment is complete. It covers the five areas of insight and 10 study directions, at least three of which don't need a university degree, and it comes with a separate report for parents.
Can poor marks rule a learner out of a direction?
No. Marks are captured in bands, and "prefer not to say" is always an option. Marks can change the order of the list and the report will say what stands against a direction, but nothing is removed.
Who pays, and how?
The school chooses: the school pays, parents pay, or the cost is split. Parents can pay once or in three instalments over three months.
Which grades can take part?
Grade 9 to 12. Cohort pricing is based on your Grade 9 numbers, because that is the year subject choices are made. Learners in Grade 10 to 12 can join at the individual price.
What happens to a learner's information?
A parent or guardian consents before a learner starts, and the consent form sets out what is collected, where it is stored and who can see it. Learner information is never sold. If a school ends its agreement the school loses dashboard access, and the learner keeps their report.
Our school doesn't have a counsellor. Can we still use IDENTIQ?
Yes. We run the assessment day with you and support learners and parents directly afterwards.
How does IDENTIQ use AI?
An assistant inside the report can explain what a finding means and how it was reached. It cannot alter answers, results or matches, and it does not give clinical advice.
